People you might consider basically sensible like James Cleverley and Alec Sharma back Johnson while some of the real headbanger tendency like Steve Baker and Kenny Badnock have gone for Team Sunak. There is also the feeling that Johnson circulated a document yesterday saying look at all these polls and look at the terrible polls the Tory party is getting at the moment. That was the subtext of his astonishingly egotistical statement that he released late last night in which he claimed to have the 102 backers. I also noticed immediately on Johnson pulling last night the pound bounced slightly on the market so the hard-nosed unpatriotic economists have spoken.
