The crack of a shotgun blast split the air and the roar of an engine filled the yard. A battered rusty no white pickup truck came barreling up the late Ruth Barber's narrow drive behind the Cadillac. Its bed was filled with men dressed similarly to the folks who'd come with the woman in the first car several of them holding rifles.
