Rationing in the United States
Rationing happened in the united states during world war too. It was a rational community worked out system to share the scarcity, rather than let the market put the entire burden of the scarcity on thos least able to absorb it,. while allowing the richest who need it at least to gobble up the consumer good. And how did the government hand out ration tickets? Those of you who know about the history of socialism will enjoy the answer. The tickets were handed out to each according to their need. If you didn't have a ration ticket, you didn't get the item whether or not you had the money to pay for its price.
