Delas cassus finally succeeded with his long campaign on behalf of the amerindians. And in 15 forty two, charles the fifth and the council of indies ed new laws that they called the new laws of the indies for the good treatment and preservation of the indians. But though the encomiendas were being faced out, that did not mean life suddenly got great for the conquered amer Indians. The spanish really just moved on to an ever so slightly less exploitive system. Once the new laws were promulgated, full blooded amer indians were classified as miners in spanish law. They would be resettled in communities called reductions,.
