The Rise and Fall of Murthy
In 1947, India won independence from British rule. Jawaaharlal Nehru invested heavily in the country's defence technology. Bengaluru had a history of producing good engineers and its geographical location made it a big beneficiary of Nehru's technology drive. But by the 1960s and 70s, India still wasn't exactly a tech superpower. A trip to Europe in his late twenties convinced Murthy he must change that.
