For a child who's persisting, i would go back to thinking about, what is he feeling? Can i put into words what's going on for him, so he knows that i get it. I'd say, you really want that lego set? It sounds so cool, and you know exactly what you to do with it. And i might also say, it's really hard to hear that you have to wait. You don't want to wait. So those are all various ways to acknowledge his feelings," she says.
