The History of Textiles in Egypt
Egyptian scientists have used computerized tomography or CT scanning to digitally unwrap and intact 2,300 year old mummy. Among their findings were at least 49 amulets of 21 different types meant to protect him as he moved into the afterlife. A scrap of tartan found in Glen Afrik peat bog more than 40 years ago is now believed to be the oldest known piece of true tartan material.
