The Making of Hollywood Films

An irish catholic trade magazine publisher named martin quigley. Quigley worked with a priest named father daniel lord to write a new set of guide lines for hollywood films called the production code. The code included many of the same prohibitions as the dontand be careful. But it was also carefully written to allow catholics to feel as though their voices were being heard, without offending any one who hated catholics. This document was imbued with the philosophy that movies should aspire to be morally correct and tainment the morals were not so subtly derived from the tenets of christianity.
