The Story of a Young Bolivar
After a year in the militia service, he then prepared to take the next standard step in his aristocratic training. So in january 17 99, he got on a ship and sailed for spain to continue his education. He took up residence with his uncle, estebon, one of his mother's brothers. And that connection allowed young bolivar to get an up close look at the very heart of the spanish monarchy. The peninsulares were no better or ser or richer even than his creola brethren back in the americas. They instead, appeared to be a bunch of dumb, out of touch, petty, short sighted buffoons.
