Both parents get a paid to be with the infant in the niku. They don't have to take their original parental leave that kicks in when the infant is at home. The hope here is that relieving pain in the ment will also help minimize some of those long term brain development effects later on. If we treat the pain here and now i would hope that that means that we will treat some of the negative consequences of the pain later in life, but i don't have any scientific proof.
Doctors can save the lives of premature infants, but the process is often painful. Luckily, a solution might be as simple as a parent’s loving touch.
