I have a lot of problems with the like, 7 plus or minus 2 rule for grouping things in UX information architecture. I think it tends to make people introduce new categories that don't mean very much for the purpose of getting things down to an appropriate number of items. So if there are natural clear and ambiguous groupings that these things fall into, especially if the things themselves are ambiguous, yachty, like absolutely put those into groups. If the items themselves are going to be much clearer than anything you add on top of it, are you just making things into groups of 9? You know, is that really all we're doing here?"
