The Impact of Local Excision on Early Stage Cancers

Local decision was thought to be a good option for early stage cancers with high cure rates, very low recurrence rates. In 2000, ASRS Minnesota presented their results looking at local decision for T one and T two cancers versus radical resection. And what they found was that the local recurrence rate was 10% for the local excision and zero for T one cancers. For T two cancers, the local Recurrence rate was 25%. Further studies from morsel and covering where Jose was and Cleveland and Mayo, they all confirmed that the local excisions has about a 10% recurrence rate at least for T 1 cancers, and closer to 25% for T two.
