The Troubles of the Early War Years
In 1941, Soviet children were evacuated from their boarding schools as the Germans invaded. The journey sometimes took 20, 30 days because they would get to a city and be told there was no place for them. A large group of them ends up in Central Russia along the Volga River near Saratov. They're not traveling with foods; these kids are really, really hungry after a long journey.
