How to Be an Empathic Listener
The best empathic listening statements are super simple. They haven't got the fluff around them. You don't need the qualification beforehand. This is not an invention of psychotherapists. How about this? This is something natural that's in all of us. It can be two or three statements and someone can say, that's exactly how I feel. We've seen it used here to connect with someone. The sad and frustrating thing is that as we develop through our education, schooling experience and then professional experience, it gets knocked out of us. And if it's something that's natural and we have it in us, I don't have difficulty in imagining coaches getting better.
