Genetic Engineering - The Bio Industrial Revolution

Biological research has become big business in a way which is unprecedented in the history of science. Molecular biologists are turning themselves into entrepreneurs, investing themat their own funds and attracting money to set up biotet companies. You get a tremendous rush to patent the most advanced bits of scientific research almost before they hit the public press and the learned journals. One of the promises of this period was that genetic engineering would transform drug discovery and production leading to a bio industrial revolution. But bite has not revolutionized drug discovery in the sense that there's been a change in inproductivity. In fact, some experts argue that bite has made drug discovery actually more costly than expected.
