In some species, they're able to a sor of re purpose that gland to make things like n alarm paramone. What also often happens is that that gland degenerates, cause they don't need it any more. But they evolve entirely new glandular systems and entirely new chemistries. And in totality, it'sa highly sophisticated sad changes, which were happening convergently.
