How to Extract Oil From Oil Sands

There's a two stage process, primary stage is hot water, secondary stage stage two is using diluent condensate. If the oil sands are not buried too deep, so we're talking less than a hundred feet underground, then the traditional strip mining works. Then something cold in situ or you'll hear something cold steam assisted gravity drainage is used to extract the hydrocarbons. And once it comes up, you still have to dilute it and add dillium to it. You can also produce straight diesel at these plans because diesel has longer hydrocarbon molecules than gasoline. That's why tax more energy.
