Sweden and Finland have a long history of contesting territory with the russian state. They were hesitant to engage too closely with the western powers, nato, for fear of essentially poking the Russian bear. But younger generations in both countries are now sympathetic to the idea of more closely alliing with the military alliances within europe and with with withEurope more generally. And i think there is a real disconnect between germany foreign policy and that being felt not only within europe, but also within germany itself.
