Despite all those apparent dramatic developments, there has been remarkably little political or institutional change. There was the pull out from afghanistan, which is maybe the most dramatic new development. But even in the realm of american foreign policy, other things have remained strikingly consistent. And on the domestic front, it's remarkable how many things have stayed the same despite debates and discussions that came up during the presidential campaign.
