'We can't create from nothing the kinds of solidarity that we wished were there, but rather, we have to build them out from connections that we already have to each other,' he says. 'Fighting for some one you don't know is a beautiful idea. Fighting for someone you do know is how you win.' He adds: 'Such orientations are not amenable to rhetoric or argument alone - they make sense in the same way idiology always makes sense as an expression of their relationships'
