Two sisters, edith and katherine doley had taken their daughter to find a quieter life in the mountains. They found a caravan of kinder and significantly poorer folk making their way to the cumberland. Scandal erupted on the virginia coast when the two pretty, dark haired sisters successfully delivered twins to a local official's wife who had lost three children in childbirth under the watch of the well known and respectable local doctor. Doctor promptly called them both witches and called for their blood. Edith took sick, her skin went sallow, and her breathing, grew wet an sidly, she was dead not long after.
