The Only Reader You're Ever Going to Know Is Yourself

I think this might be a cliche and a bit corny, but I genuinely think the only reader you're ever going to know is yourself. That doesn't mean you have to be sort of like arrogant about it or not listen to advice from editors or agents and stuff like that. But what it's more about not trying to second guess, not trying to write something because you think it's right for someone else. You have to write literally the book you would want to read in that moment. And then your readership can sort of expand from there.
