Maggie o'farrell's debut novel is told from multiple points of view in multiple time lines. You don't know what that thing is until the very end of the novel, at which point i strongly suggest you're going to want to flip back to the beginning and begin reading again. The book also has a couple of other just completely delightful things about it. I have a daughter who's obsessed with axelotls. One of the characters in this book keeps an axelotle.
