The Benefits of Pre-Hospital Thrombolysis for STEMI
Thrombolysis isn't a core skill held by UK paramedics because clearly we're not challenged by our geography in that many cases. But as an example of a country which has worked really hard to overcome its geography. New Zealand's got a great example of an out of hospital STEMI pathway and that was kindly sent to me by our good friend Tatsu over in Christchurch. And so if the patient can reach the hospital within 90 minutes of the diagnosis of STEMI either by air or by land then PCI remains the preferred treatment.
