The Interplay of Men and Women in Idolatrous Worship
They are provoking the Lord even further to anger, bringing down even worse judgment upon themselves. The distinction of men and their wives is probably noteworthy in this particular context as the worship being performed is for the queen of heaven. There is a family dynamic involved, as we saw in Jeremiah chapter 7 verse 18. Children gather wood, the fathers kindle fire, and the women need dough to make cakes for theQueen of Heaven.
