How to Predict Extreme Weather Events Using Equations

Early weather forecasts were essentially trying to find patterns of weather data and apply them to current situations. In 1904, a Norwegian physicist called Wilhelm Biechnes published an article which called for a new approach using mathematical calculations. The basic model that is still used by forecasters includes the blue and red cold and warm fronts you'll see on TV today.
