The Evolution of Training

The first climbing gym in the United States didn't open I believe until 1988 in the northwest in Portland or Seattle. There were a few indoor climbing walls in the UK because it rains so much they you know glued holds onto a brick wall and had some indoor climbing there. What a few people from my generation did was we would go into your parents basement and screw wood blocks onto the rafters to train for shuan gunks which was my main climbing area in high school. The crux of most training is using rocks as gymnastics implements, that's what John Gill always leaned on.
