I started working on deep learning essentially in like months to of my PhD. And that's an interesting point in time because I think by 2014, 2015 deep learning was increasingly the norm in NLP and computer vision. But as far as I remember, I think it came to robotics more so around that point. So it seems like a good time to get into it before, as that area was growing.Yeah, definitely. The second project of my PhD was actually the first paper that got robots to train deep networks directly from vision inputs to to controls. Even though it was starting to get more popular, it wasn't well accepted until recently.
