The Importance of a Good Balance
They seemed bigger to me at the time than they objectively were because I was very political. There's a documentary on them from 2000 and the band itself makes a big deal out of the fact that like critics in the UK hate them. They weren't pretty disliked. But they seemed a bit too explicit, a bit naff to use of criticism. And they're not subtle lyrically. They're not subtle musically. Because it's kind of gosh, but not a lot of nuance in there. Not at all. It's not like a safe balance.
