The First Casualty of World War II

Colonel John Dye died of cancer in 1976. He was a technical advisor on the movie Patton. His ashes are spread at VMI. There's some word that can come out that's not true. I really want to believe the one about the first casualty of World War II. It sounds like legend. Yeah, it could be. Oh, by the way, the scar in his face. Everyone said he got it in a duel, but actually there's a footnote about it here. And after that was done, he took a job as an attache in Spain. That was his last army job.
