Is Mathematics Invention or Discovery?
I was also intrigued by one of the arguments that you describe that, and this would be people who insist that mathematics is invented, rather than discovered. I mean, it's easier to grasp that these are inventions, right? It's not as if the words existed there and we discovered the words. We certainly invented them, and then we use these words to describe things... If you think of mathematics in a somewhat similar fashion, then you kind of tend to think that it is more like an invention than a discovery.
