We need to understand much more about the biology of allergies, says Chris Smith. This will allow us to design a rational therapeutic strategy against allergy and potentially vaccines. In the long term, hopefully by understanding the biology there are potential to develop new therapies. But in the meantime, I'm afraid we just have to go in and bear it.
