T a e is working on device called copernicus that will run with normal hydrogen or other non fusing plasmas to avoid producing neutrons. Helions technique involves firing pulses of plasma together inside a lineal reactor, then rapidly compressing the merged plasma with magnetic fields. When fusion occurs, the plasma expands and its magnetic field interacts with tha surrounding the reactor to induce an electric current. The reactors built by private companies, being smaller than ete projects, will be much more affordable. Devices producing around a hundred megawots of power are just right size for a large container ship.
