The term has been thrown out very early in the planning process as an apparent warning to a bride to be who is showing early signs of simply making her needs or preferences known. Julie Kay says we get a slew of news stories about how to control brides making ridiculous demands. There's also the irreconcilable idea that women are not supposed to seek attention, while also being the center of attention on their wedding day. It speaks to this deep anxiety we seem to have with women who had served themselves.
