The Importance of Experience in Real Estate
I think it's one of those jobs that it certainly helps that you have some experience. I don't have any direct family, although we moved around a lot and my dad and mom always seemed to buy houses where we moved. They were always fixer-uppers, so I learned how to wire and a little bit of plumbing and that kind of stuff as a kid. But yeah, I did have my wife as a cousin or more like an uncle who is a pretty big real estate person who mentored me early in my career. He was somebody that recommended I get a degree and take things a little bit more seriously early on.
