The Status Quo Bias in the Experience Machine

People are going to assume that the world they're familiar with is the paradigmatic real world. I'm a huge fan of thought experiments, even if you could construct the thought experiments a different way so that you produce opposite intuition. That's valuable, a valuable exercise. And I think all thought experiments have that agenda. So it's okay that they push you in a certain way. But just because a thought experiment could be constructed differently doesn't mean with a different intuitions we can generate a valuable world.
