What Leads to the Unwholesome?
The Buddha recommends that the columns look to their own experience to judge what leads to the unwholesome. So he uses a set of distinctions which get very familiar from other discourses in the Pālika. The kinds of mental states, which lead to harm and suffering, we could call compulsion or greed, hate, and confusion. These mental states are emotional and you could say intellectual or cognitive states of greed or compulsion.
