Naked statues are a distinctive feature of ancient greece, and then later adopted by the romans. The number of orgies that rome a was very small for all sorts of reasons - not leastic because they don't like public sex. For the Greeks, nudity is about health and athletics; it's also sign of high status. But within decades we start to see the rise of naked statue in roman culture. And so within the space of a few decades, nude sculpture begins to appear inside rome. It's foretold as part of philosophy just like rhetoric does.
