Mula Sadra and other Safavid thinkers were deeply influenced by neo-Platonism. Many of the surviving manuscripts of the theology of Aristotle come from Iran. The younger Dashtaki had a student named Najma Adin Anirazi, whose thought has all the hallmarks of Safavid philosophy. In his writings he curses the first three caliphs of Islam, whom Shiites see as having held power when it should have passed to Ali.
