Is Shrove a Derivation of the Old Roman Catholic Practice of Being Shriven?
Shrove Tuesday is a traditional feast day right before Lent. The word Shrove comes from the old Roman Catholic practice of being shriven, meaning to confess one sins to unburden oneself. There are certain delicacies associated with it, like pancakes and lots of sweetie treaties. And so why not loosen up a little before you have to be a good kid?
