The Fed's Influence on the Economy

The Federal Reserve has certain levers that they can move to affect the economy. The Fed projects it's influenced through the banking system. Most businesses aren't touched by banks because banks need to make loans that will be paid back. Banks are in the business of being paid back which is why most finance takes place well away from banks.
