Anna Karenina

You'll read a scene in Anna Karenina where they're sort of talking through the table. When you get to the table talk, you'll just struck by how real it feels. Her translation's beautiful. I like the Vian Volokonski, but if I'm buying someone, Anna Karenina, who doesn't read very often and is more used to English books, I will get them the Rosamund Bartlett. A.N. Wilson has a great biography.
