Utfang Thief
The word is utfang thief. It's defined as the right of a lord under medieval English law to try in his menorial court a thief or other felon dwelling in his manner but caught outside it. Fangen is the past participle of phone meaning to seize or capture. We are not used to saying ut at the beginning of a word, we just aren't.
