The Role of Sex Hormones in Migraine
The majority of patients that come to a neurology practice is their females. trigeminal CGRP containing neurons are equipped with receptors for estrogen and oxytocin. If migraine was a, shall we say, a woman's disease in some way that would be a predominance I would predict being to the ex chromosomes because then males have one and females too. But the loci that were associated with migraine actually 123, they were spread evenly on all chromosomes.
