The Effects of Emotions

Spinoza calls feelings, emotions and passions the effects because they affect us. He thinks that all effects boil down to three main ones from which all the others derive: Joy, sadness and desire. And they're all related to Spinoza's idea of perfection. Our sad, angry, fearful, hungry, annoyed, stressed, anxious, frustrated feelings about things are signals that something is affecting us in a negative way.
