When we lived in Chicago If they had a cookout or a grill out they would call it a barbecue And so when we went to our first barbecue Henry and I were like, where's the barbecue? And they don't serve barbecue at the barbecue They that's just what they call it. See, I think that you are similar where your particular definition of barbecue is a specific thing for me It was pulled pork sandwiches with barbecue sauce This traditionally what that means and I never knew that that meant anything else.
