The Importance of Failure in the War

During the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, he was made a propaganda officer. He used his poetry to try and encourage his soldiers to carry out violence without sympathy or guilt. A later investigation by the IDF concludes that Kavner had simply lost all sense of proportion. The poet won the Israel Prize for Poetry in 1970 and died from laryngeal cancer in 1987.
