The Difference in the Words That a Child Hears Before They Start School
A child growing up in a really struggling household will hear 30 million less words than a child in a middle-class family. Even the basic language skills are not evenly distributed in society and so even the very tool with which you should be aiming to use to become more socially mobile is being snuffed out of every child before they've even understood the power of what it could mean for them in the future.
