The Young Earth Question - What's Your Ultimate Bottom Line?

The balance of evidence very strongly points to the idea that we're living on an old earth in an old universe. In order to get the scientific evidence to fit a time scale of only thousands of years, you have to propose that the laws of nature were radically different in the past. Of course, god could have created the world just a few thousand years ago, but with the appearance of age and all the things we see in the fossil record. But both of these seem inconsistent with the idea of a loving, truth telling god. Therefore, in my view, it's better to hold that god speaks the truth to us both through divine revelation and through the created world.
