Johnny Kitagawa was born in LA a decade before the start of World War II. His parents had immigrated from Japan to the US before the US banned all immigration from Japan. The whole family, when Johnny's like 10, get deported back to Japan. He narrowly avoided an air raid at one point in Japan. When he's 16, war is over and the family moved back to Los Angeles.
